Fans have expressed concerns about the readiness of the Green Bay Packers entering the playoffs after dropping their last two regular season games. For Carrington Valentine, they are still a capable team.
The Packers dropped to no. 7 in the National Football Conference and are set to play no. 2 Philadelphia Eagles after they lost to the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in Week 17 and Week 18, respectively.
They entered both games on a high with Jordan Love recording great numbers and Rashan Gary, Josh Jacobs, and Xavier McKinney getting named to the Pro Bowl.
Slow start doomed Packers in their last two assignments and now, they are back to the drawing board in preparation for the Eagles.
The play declined a bit but Valentine is firm that that the talent is still there for his team.
“For sure, we got a bunch of pieces on the team. We gonna go out there and compete no matter what,” the 23-year-old cornerback said when asked about team’s readiness to compete.
The team will have to be be fully healthy though to be able to go toe-to-toe with the Eagles’ formidable offensive system led by Saquon Barklet and Jalen Hurts.
Did Carrington Valentine throw Jeff Hafley under the bus?
Jeff Hafley, the team’s defensive coordinator who transformed the team this season, is getting heat for the last play that could have given the Packers the win.
The play involved a winning play by the Bears in the dying moments of the game where Caleb Williams hit DJ Moore with a pass to gain 18 yards and a game-winning field goal attempt.
Valentine is in the middle of all of it but he made the mistake of tackling Moore to open up the field.
“I just did what I was told,” said Valentine, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Play outside leverage, try to keep them in the middle of the field, so the clock. They didn’t have any timeouts. So I just did what was asked of me.”
This sounds like he freed himself of responsibility but he had a good point.
