Bo Melton is not first on the depth chart of Green Bay Packers‘ wide receiver but he believes anyone in the team can be utilized to replace the injured Christian Watson.
The 25-year-old player, who made just one receiving touchdown in the regular season, explained that the team is built in a way that anybody will be able to step up whenever their numbers get called.
The time to prove that is more important than ever on January 13 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football Conference Wildcard round.
First, they come in as the underdog in the match. Second, they have injuries to key players, most notably Watson who failed to finish the Bears game.
Melton said they always practice hard in training in preparation for situations like this.
“Sometimes you can get lost in the sauce during the year and just not getting the reps you wanna get. But if you come to practice every day and you work hard, you don’t gotta worry about when your number’s called. You gonna be ready for it. I think that was the sauce,” he said.
Melton have recorded 309 receiving yards so far with 24 receptions. He did not record any in the last game.
Bo Melton on what the mood is after Christian Watson’s injury
Melton said Watson’s injury is terrible for he is one of the best they have in the squad, one of the best in his position.
“What happened to Christian, we are all upset about that. One of the best players in this team. Best in the league,” he said.
While the mood is dejected, he insisted that all their players can step-up, something they have shown over and over.
“Our receivers can all make plays. No matter what number is called, everybody in our receiver room did something. We’ve got the history to back it up.”
