The Green Bay Packers are adding veteran linebacker depth, signing Nick Niemann, according to a report from Packers on SI’s Bill Huber.
Niemann, 28, arrives in Green Bay after spending his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he posted 87 total tackles with one interception and one tackle for loss.
Replacing Isaiah Simmons and Kristian Welch, whom the Packers released while trimming the roster to the initial 53 players, Niemann has the opportunity to contribute on special teams as well as competing for snaps on coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense.
Niemann led the Chargers in special teams tackles each of the past three seasons.
