Jordan Love commented recently that should sound an alarm for the Green Bay Packers management on their pass-catching situation. The Packers knew Love would be working in a challenging situation with his young wide receivers and tight ends during OTAs this spring. Head coach Matt LaFleur said he wanted to gauge where the team was at during the spring minicamps before seeing if the team needed to add a veteran.
Seven of the Packers’ eight projected skilled starters on offense are 24 years of age or younger. The starting tight ends are rookies. Love’s most experienced wide receivers will be Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson. According to the Packers, Love made a comment during OTAs on how that affects the offense. Love said he doesn’t have a go-to pass catcher, and he spun it as a positive:
“I don’t think we have that one player that right now is like, ‘Oh, this is who we have to go to with the ball’ and throw the ball to on third down, so defenses might not know who to focus on, on third downs. I think that all ties in and will help us out.”
Whether that is true remains to be seen. Love has thrown multiple interceptions during the Packers’ two-minute drill during OTAs.
Green Bay Packers fans react to Jordan Love’s comments
Here are the best takes on Love’s comments about not having a go-to receiver.
I don’t understand how the football dummies out there don’t understand what Love is saying. Love is speaking on the depth and amount of talent they truly have, not the opposite. https://t.co/t4Q6woANnx

I love this. Keep the defense guessing. Although I expect Watson to pop off. https://t.co/qepfPwZLt9

That’s because there is no real WR1 on the pack
