The Week 14 match-up between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers is one of the bigger games this week.
Both teams are expected to make it harder for each other but internally, players involved may face a bigger obstacle. Take it from from Future Hall of Fame member Drew Brees.
The New Orleans Saints legend sat with Cowlin Herd in the show ‘The Herd’ and discussed the upcoming divisional game between the Lions and the Packers.
He thought, based on his experience, such type of game is the hardest for a player.
These games were more difficult just because of the level of familiarity between divisional opponents. And especially when it’s divisional opponents that are the caliber that Green Bay and Detroit are, the caliber of quarterback, the caliber of team, the caliber of coach. Because there is so much familiarity that going into the game you were constantly thinking about, ‘Well man, they know us really well. They know all these tendencies. So they know that I know that we know that they know,’ you go through that whole exercise.
Brees is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in the league. He last played in 2020 and strung up an impressive career by winning the Super Bowl in 2010 as part of the Saints and getting named as the Finals MVP.
He is also a two-time Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the Second Team All-Pro two times.
Packers vs Lions injury report
The Detroit Lions appear invincible while the Green Bay Packers are surging. The familiarity with each other is both an advantage and a disadvantage in this game.
So are the injuries.
The latest injury report says Jaire Alexandser and Romeo Doubs will remain out for the Packers even if they joined team practices this week already.
As for the Lions, they will not have Taylor Decker, Josh Paschal, Levi Onwurzurike, and D.J. Reader.
Regardless of the absence of these players, fireworks are still expected from this much, big thanks to the banters that happened over the week and their historic rivalry.
