Former Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong was part of the trade that brought Jesse Winker in from the Seattle Mariner. Both Wong and Winker have underperformed this season, and the former Brewers second baseman will now be searching for his third team in two years. The Mariners made the decision to designate Wong for assignment after no trade suitors were found for him.

As noted in the Tweet above, the Boston Red Sox are rumored to have interest in signing the two-time Gold Glove Award winner.
Kolten Wong Failed to Produce for the Seattle Mariner Following Trade from Milwaukee Brewers
During his days with the St. Louis Cardinals, Wong was known as an elite defensive second baseman who could get on base regularly. He won the Gold Glove in 2019 and 2020 and posted an on base percentage of .356 from 2017-2020.
In two seasons with the Brewers, Wong hit .262/.337/.439 with 29 home runs and 97 RBI. In his second season, though, Wong’s usually sure defense was noticeably declining. His fielding percentage fell from .995 in 2021 to .963 in 2022. He committed just two errors in 2021, but committed 17 the following year.
Milwaukee traded Wong to Seattle in the offseason for Winker and Abraham Toro. Winker is not performing well either with a slash line of .199/.320/.247 with a single home run and 23 RBI. Toro has recently seen some playing time with Milwaukee after spending most of the season in Nashville. In eight games, Toro is hitting .444/.500/.778 with two home runs and nine RBI.
