With the looming trade deadline on February 6th and all of the blockbuster trades that have occurred thus far, it’s hard to believe that any player in the NBA is truly untouchable.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had some thoughts on the massive Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis trade that transpired over the weekend.
“You cannot have a double standard here. When the teams make the best moves for them and they believe they can get another player to win now. When a player believes that he can go to a different team and he believes he can have a chance to win a championship, we cannot crucify the person and say that he’s not loyal.”
Will Milwaukee Ever Deal Him?
In today’s NBA landscape, there is no certainty that the Bucks will keep their franchise cornerstone forever. It would be nice for them to keep Antetokounmpo, but unfortunately, anything is possible.
The Golden State Warriors have been linked to Giannis for the last few years, and they would absolutely love to pair him with Stephen Curry. The duo would be generational, and the Warriors would love to keep winning more championships.
According to Clutch Points NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Warriors still “want” Antetokounmpo. Golden State hasn’t been shy though, as they have reportedly reached out to teams about every All-Star possible according to ESPN insider Shams Charania.

What It Would Mean For Milwaukee
Losing a dominant two-time Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year and NBA champion would be detrimental to the Bucks. The thing is, the trade package would be historic for a player like him. If he wants out, Milwaukee will have to ask for the house from an opposing franchise.
If Milwaukee cannot find their way into championship contention again, Giannis’s time with the team might be cut short. He wants to win big, and he’s let that be known many, many times.
The Now
Since their 2021 championship title, it has been a rough road for Milwaukee. They have dealt with injuries, coaching issues and just simply coming up short in the postseason. In the 2024-25 season, the inconsistency has been louder than ever.
They are currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, and are just three games away from the ninth seed. The Bucks have to kick it up before it is too late in order for Antetokounmpo to remain loyal to the organization.
