The Milwaukee Bucks have lost the last three of four games in brutal fashion. Last night, the San Antonio Spurs beat down the Bucks by of a score of 144-118.
This loss followed up another double-digit loss to the putrid Portland Trail Blazers. Milwaukee currently sits at fourth in the Eastern Conference, but that spot can easily slip away by how close other teams are.
The Inconsistency
Milwaukee has shown all season that they either are a contender or a pretender. At this point, you don’t know which team will play that day.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been consistent with his play. He’s averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this season. You cannot ask for more from the two-time Most Valuable Player.
Damian Lillard has also come through averaging 25.3 points, 7.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per contest. Lillard and Antetokounmpo have both made the All-Star team from the Eastern Conference.
The biggest problems with the Bucks are coaching and depth. Doc Rivers has been known to not be the greatest coach and he hasn’t improved that narrative with Milwaukee. Rotations and adjustments have been plaguing the team from succeeding further.
Outside of the dynamic duo of The Greek Freak and Dame Time, Milwaukee hasn’t had consistent play from their roster.
Trade Deadline Move?
To improve the squad and try to make a run at an NBA title, a move has to be made by the deadline.
Khris Middleton and Pat Connaughton’s names have been involved in trade talks as of late, and they might have to be packaged for a star.
What the Bucks currently have isn’t enough to compete with the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the reigning champion Boston Celtics. There has to be more to a team than two superstars, depth has to be included as well.
What’s Next
Milwaukee will play the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night, which is a huge test. On Monday, they will play the top seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, a rematch of the NBA Cup.
If the Bucks can be that team that won the tournament, they will continue to be contenders instead of pretenders.
