The Milwaukee Bucks have two roster spots that they can fill after the NBA trade deadline this week. Many fans believe that Ryan Rollins, who is currently on a two-way deal, should be given a full contract due to his solid play this season.
It was expected that Delon Wright, who was signed as a free agent this offseason, would be the backup point guard to Damian Lillard. However, it has been Rollins who has emerged as the better second option while Wright has been relegated to the end of the bench.
So far this season, Rollins is averaging 4.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while playing roughly 12 minutes per contest. Wright, on the other hand, is averaging 2.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
The difference between the two can be found in their shooting percentages and defense. Rollins plays aggressive defense and is shooting 47/34/82 from the floor. Wright, meanwhile, is a below-average defender and his shooting 28/26/57 from the floor.
Milwaukee Bucks Fan Favorite Thanasis Antetokounmpo Is Back Playing Basketball
If Rollins indeed gets one of the two open roster spots, that will leave one left for someone else to take. After the 2024-24 NBA season ended, many fans expected Milwaukee to re-sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s older brother who had been on the team since 2019.
However, Thanasis tore his Achilles while working out early in the offseason and went unsigned. He has been frequently seen sitting courtside at Bucks games, cheering on the team and trying to motivate them in the same way that he did while on their roster.
Earlier this weekend, the elder Antetokounmpo brother revealed a major update in his recovery: he is back playing basketball:

In the video posted above, Thanasis revealed that the recovery process took a big toll on him, but that he is grateful that God blessed him with perseverance in order to get stronger and to be ready to compete again.
While he would likely need some time in the G League in order to get back into game shape, it is great news that Thanasis has been able to recover from such a devastating injury.
If he is fully cleared, do not be surprised if he ends up getting a Bucks roster spot after all.
