If there is one thing that Milwaukee Bucks fans, and fans of any team in the state of Wisconsin, can agree upon, is that the national mainstream media loathes when their small market teams have any level of success or have star players that dominate their respective sports.
This has never been more true, perhaps, in regard to Giannis Antetokounmpo and his continued commitment to the Bucks. For nearly a decade now, national media outlets, particularly ESPN, have spent NBA offseasons attempting to plant seeds of discord between the two-time NBA MVP and the only franchise for whom he has ever played.
Yet, time and time again, the nine-time All-Star remains in Milwaukee. But regardless of what he says, no matter how many extensions he signs, and despite the fact that Giannis actively recruits players to join him on the Bucks, the narrative that he “might” leave is kept on life support by a media that cannot accept the fact that a superstar does not want to leave the league’s smallest market for the bright lights (and higher taxes) of a bigger city.
Shams Charania Says “Nothing Is Set in Stone” Regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo and His Future with the Milwaukee Bucks

When the Bucks were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs in the first round, once again, ESPN reporters, Shams Charania in particular, began their onslaught of speculation and rumor milling, claiming that this would be the offseason in which Giannis decided to leave Milwaukee.
For months, though, there has been no movement on that front. Furthermore, in that time, Giannis has made multiple statements regarding his intent to stay with the Bucks, and not just this season, but in future ones as well. Additionally, it was revealed that he had a big hand in recruiting free agent center Myles Turner to Milwaukee.
But in the face of these things, Charania has refused to let the idea that Giannis could leave die. On Monday morning, he stated the following on “Get Up:”
“Sources tell me there’s still nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo will stay in Milwaukee or whether he will be leaving.”

“Sources tell me there’s still nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo will stay in Milwaukee or whether he will be leaving,” he said.
Ironically, this upcoming season is the first year of the three-year $175 million contract extension the Greek Freak signed with Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Clap Back at ESPN, Shams Charania

If the Bucks and Giannis were headed for a divorce, it would have happened already. It is August, the NBA Draft has happened already, NBA Summer League is over, and all the biggest free agents have already found new homes.
There is no rumor of frustration between Giannis and the front office, there is no sense, at least within their own organization, that they cannot compete for a title this year.
And Bucks fans are tired of what they call forced speculation regarding their team and its best player:

No joke. When this doesn’t happen. Shams should be fired over continuing to peddle this nonsense. https://t.co/rkG8By36V7

It’s so clear who the best player in the world is. No one else has ever, EVER been covered like this. ESPN can’t get over that the best player of this generation for nearly a decade now doesn’t want to take a Milwaukee Bucks jersey off https://t.co/F3b5kAt5aU

What a lame reporter
Once again, makes a general statement report that a fan could say that offers nothing https://t.co/cPrnyRuvHz

Needless to say, fans are more than ready for the NBA season to start so that these planted rumors can be given a rest, though knowing the national media, they will continue to drop hints and whispers regardless of how well Giannis and the Bucks play.
