Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate, claimed former NBA draft first-round pick Dennis Smith Jr after he inked a deal with the G League. However, the former NC State Wolfpack star has yet to see action for the Herd. Based on a recent post by Keith Smith on Spotrac, it seems that Smith (the player) simply did not like where he landed, as suggested as well by Ti Windisch of “Gyro Step.”
Dennis Smith Jr was claimed by the Wisconsin Herd when he signed with the G League but has yet to play a game for Wisconsin. Sounds like that is his choice according to Keith here:
“Smith signed with the G League, but didn’t land where he wanted, so he hasn’t played a game yet.”
Fans react to Dennis Smith Jr.’s situation with Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate situation
“Sitting out in the G league is crazy,” shared a fan.
Another wondered about the possibility of Smith being added to the Milwaukee Bucks as a backcourt depth addition behind Damian Lillard: “Aren’t the Bucks a good team to be with as a PG with Rollins being hurt most of the year as the backup, and Wright not in the rotation?”
“What a loser,” an X, formerly Twitter, user commented.
Another comment read: “Your not gonna get picked up by anyone if you don’t play lol, bit embarrassing from him.”
Dennis Smith Jr., who turned 27 years old last November, was taken by the Dallas Mavericks as the 2017 NBA draft’s ninth pick overall. He also had stints with the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons. He most recently played in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets with whom he averaged 6.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 56 games, mostly coming off the bench.
