The Milwaukee Bucks have a lot of options to choose from in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. It’s also true, however, that this team also has a number of areas to address ahead of the new season.
There’s no denying that the Bucks had their fair share of defensive issues last term, particularly in the backcourt. As such, it would not be a totally bad idea for them to use their second-round pick on a guy like Tristen Newton of UConn.
Tristen Newton Works Out With Milwaukee Bucks
Newton, a 6-foot-5 guard who is coming off his fifth year in college, recently shared a photo of himself on social media in Bucks gear. This only means that the 23-year-old had a pre-draft workout with Milwaukee as the team considers him a potential recruit:

You have to note, however, that Newton did have the “#5” on his photo, which seems to point to the fact that the Bucks are the fifth NBA team he’s now worked out with ahead of the upcoming draft.
According to Dalton Sell of Behind the Bucks Pass, Newton could be an intriguing fit for Milwaukee, given what he brings to the table defensively:
“There’s a lot to like about Newton’s possible fit in Milwaukee. First, he’s a tenacious defender, and at 6-foot-5, he possesses quality size, which could allow him to match up against bigger players. It’s no secret that the Bucks should be overturning every stone possible to get more strong defenders on this roster, especially young ones with a motor like Newton has,” Sell wrote.
A UConn Reunion?
In case you forgot, the Bucks used one of their draft picks last year to scoop up another UConn alum. This came in the form of Andre Jackson Jr., who had an up-and-down debut campaign under Adrian Griffin and Doc Rivers.
Reuniting these two former Huskies could work wonders for both players as the familiarity between them could be something that translates to their relationship both on and off the court.
As mentioned previously, the Bucks have a number of options for their No. 33 pick this coming draft, but it’s possible that they could use that second-round pick on a guy like Newton.
