Throughout his NBA career, All-Star Damian Lillard has accumulated a respectable list of awards and accomplishments. Turns out, there’s a horse statue dedicated to Milwaukee Bucks point guard in Utah, making it among the most surprising accolades he has ever received.
Lillard had a successful college career at Weber State, where he was a three-time First-team All-Big Sky selection and the Big Sky Player of the Year in 2010 and 2012. He was drafted sixth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2012 NBA draft and went on to be named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2013.
During his 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers, Lillard became a seven-time NBA All-Star, seven-time All-NBA Team selection, and led the team to consistent playoff appearances. He was known for his clutch shot-making and earned the nickname “Dame Time” for his ability to hit big shots late in games. In 2018, Lillard was named to the All-NBA First Team and in 2020, he had a career-high in assists per game. Despite dealing with injuries in recent seasons, Lillard has remained one of the league’s elite point guards.
In 2023, Lillard was traded to the Bucks, where he has continued to demonstrate his scoring prowess and playmaking skills as he looks to capture his first NBA championship. Along with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and head coach Doc Rivers, the point guard will make another attempt at a ring during the upcoming season.
The Reason Why Milwaukee Bucks Guard Damian Lillard Has a Horse Statue in Utah
Just recently, Weber State University honored Lillard for his achievements while playing there. In an article by JR Radcliffe for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Bucks’ point guard got a statue of a horse dedicated in his honor.

During the four years he played for Weber, Lillard averaged 18.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He also shot 44 percent from the field, 39 percent from deep, and 86 percent from the free throw line during that period.
While a horse statue may seem like the weirdest tribute ever, there’s no denying Lillard has done so much during his time playing college basketball. If all goes well too next season, that list of accomplishments can only get bigger for the Bucks point guard.
