On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks bested the Detroit Pistons 128-107 in the NBA Cup Group Play finale. Milwaukee finished the season perfect in Group Play, winning East Group B and advancing into the NBA Cup quarterfinals. Milwaukee won the first three quarters, finishing the night by shooting 45-of-80 from the field and 23-of-41 from deep. Superstar point guard Damian Lillard led the charge, scoring 27 points on 53% from the field.
Lillard scored 20 points in three straight games while shooting better than 50% in two of his last three contests. Per ShotQuality, a data-driven basketball company that uses computer vision and AI to deliver player location data, Lillard shot better than expected in his 27-point outburst.

On Tuesday night, guard Damian Lillard scored 27 points in a 128-107 win against the Detroit Pistons. Per ShotQuality, using 90+ variables and based on Lillard’s shots, the guard scored five more points than expected based on his shot attempts. However, Lillard still scored 22 points in both the actual and SQ box scores. More notably, fellow superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and reserve AJ Green were the biggest overachievers.
On 10-of-11 shooting, Antetokounmpo finished with 28 points on an expected 19. Meanwhile, Green scored 11 points, while SQ expected four points. Conversely, Malik Beasley had an off night for the Pistons, scoring just four points, while SQ expected 11 points based on shots taken.
Bucks Host Hawks on Wednesday
The Milwaukee Bucks will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting the Atlanta Bucks while riding a seven-game winning streak. Milwaukee is 11-9 on the season after a brutal start. Meanwhile, Atlanta is also on a winning streak, winning four games straight and owning an 11-11 record.
Milwaukee opens as a 4.5-point favorite and is 8-3 at home this season. Superstar and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as probable for the matchup but expects to play after his 28 points in 28 minutes on Tuesday.
