The Milwaukee Bucks were not at full strength when they showed up at Paycom Center Monday night to play Shai-Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder in a rematch of this season’s NBA Cup final.
The Bucks rolled a lineup without Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton. Their starting lineup against the high-powered Thunder consisted of Taurean Prince, Chris Livingston, AJ Green, Andre Jackson and Ryan Rollins.
As expected, the Thunder demolished the undermanned Bucks via a 112-96 score.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Thunder takes full advantage of thin Bucks lineup
Gilgeous-Alexander torched the Bucks for 34 points, barely missing from the field in only 22 minutes. He shot 15-for-19 and dished out six assists to go along with three rebounds. With Lopez, Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis out for the Bucks, Thunder big man Isaiah Hartenstein had a field day on the glass. He finished with just six points but grabbed 12 boards with three assists and two blocks in just 18 minutes of action.
“We took care of business, played the right way and played our game… We did our job,” Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters in the postgame press conference following the Thunder win (h/t Nick Gallo of FanDuel Sports Network)
Rollins led the Bucks with 16 points while AJ Johnson came off the bench and fired 13 points. Livingston, Jackson and Gary Trent Jr, each scored 10 points for the Bucks, who have played three games in the four days. Milwaukee slid down to 26-22 and is now on a four-game losing skid heading into a road matchup versus the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
