There’s currently a lot of hype surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks — and rightfully so. After all, this team has just formed what could be one of the greatest superstar pairings in the history of the NBA.
Individually, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are two of the top players in the league right now. Together, they are going to be quite a force to be reckoned with.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Stern Warning
For his part, Giannis could not be more excited about the opportunity to play with Dame. After all, you could say that this is exactly what Antetokounmpo wanted when he declared his intention to leave Milwaukee if the Bucks were unable to surround him with the weapons he needed to compete for another championship. Needless to say, the front office heeded his call.
“It’s a blessing to have opportunity to play with a guy like that,” Antetokounmpo told Marc J. Spears of Andscape. “A guy that is built from the same cloth as you. A guy that is a killer. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. He’s been good for so many years in the league, dominating the league and having a guy that you can go to war every single day that wants it as bad as you want. It is always a good feeling.”
The former back-to-back MVP, however, wasted no time reminding Lillard of what to expect now that he’s in Milwaukee:
“He’s hungry and but he even makes me hungrier because when you are amongst greatness every single day, you have to bring it. You cannot slack. And it goes vice versa. He has to bring it, too,” Antetokounmpo said.
Knowing Lillard and his work ethic, though, he shouldn’t have any problems with this whatsoever.
The Future Is Bright
Giannis knows that the sky is the limit for this new-look Bucks side. At the same time, however, the former Defensive Player of the Year is intent on keeping himself grounded:
“But being with him, we have a chance. We have a legit chance to do something great here. And I’m excited for what the future holds,” Antetokounmpo continued. “But we got to take it a step at a time. We haven’t won anything. There’s going to be a lot of hype around us, but we haven’t done anything. We haven’t even played a game yet. We haven’t even played together in practice yet. So, we can talk about it all day, but at the end of the day, our actions speak louder than words. But we have an opportunity to do something great. And that’s exciting for me.”
One thing you can say for sure is that Giannis is not the type who will rest on his laurels. He knows that he has a golden opportunity in his hands right now, and he won’t be wasting it. The same can be said for Damian Lillard.
