Milwaukee Bucks’ offseason is being discussed already due to their regular season struggle. They will face another major issue once the season is done when it comes to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future activities.
It is not like the Bucks are preventing him from any activities when the NBA season is done. However, the risks of him getting injured is something to be considered.
Greece national men’s basketball team coach Vassilis Spanoulis revealed the Greek Freak will play in the 2025 Eurobasket in case they get in.
He added that the NBA superstar is motivated to play for them once he gets the chance.
“This is about what we build in the summer, our relationship. Not just me and Giannis, but between him and the rest of the players,” Spanoulis said via Eurohoops.net.
“How much he enjoyed our journey from the Olympic Qualifying Tournament to the Olympic Games, and that he really desires and is motivated to play this summer.”
Right now, Greece still have two games to play to finally qualify for the main tournament. They are already at the top of Group F with seven points and will still face no. 2 Czech Republic and bottom team Netherlands.
Qualification is pretty much in sight for them.
Milwaukee Bucks can’t stop Giannis Antetokounmpo from playing
It will be Antetokounmpo’s call whether he will play for his national team or not. Injury is probably the only thing that can stop him.
The Bucks are themselves witnesses to how relentless the Greek Freak can be, like that time he went back and won them a title in 2021 after his knee almost snapped during the Eastern Conference finals with the Atlanta Hawks.
The two-time MVP has been very vocal about achieving something for Greece basketball team.
“I love this feeling; I love representing 11 million Greeks in the country and another five million in the rest of the world, because I saw that there was again that spark for basketball. If I’m the reason for it, it’s a great feeling,” he said back in 2023.
He played for them in 2024 Paris Olympics but they came up short as they only reached the quarterfinals where they lost to Euro champions Germany.
