The Milwaukee Bucks fell to 40-31 on the season following their heartbreaking 108-106 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. While two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had 31 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, it was not enough to overcome the late-game heroics of Suns stars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
There were many frustrating aspects of Milwaukee’s loss, including the seemingly lack of interest from certain players (Brook Lopez and Taurean Prince) to chase down loose balls. Indeed, after scoring 58 points in the first half, the Bucks were held to just 48 in the second, their offense once again stalling when it was needed the most due to a lack of effort from multiple players on the court.
The offense’s inconsistency has been a problem for weeks now, and is something that Giannis, Damian Lillard, and Doc Rivers met about recently. It was a meeting that, according to Giannis, should not have been made public.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Wants to Know Who Revealed that a Meeting Took Place

In an interview with the The Athletic, Giannis was asked about his closed-door meeting with Rivers and Lillard. “Who goes and tells people this?” he responded.
When asked if the meeting was one that needed to happen and what it was about, the Greek Freak answered:
“It’s a conversation. It’s not unique. It’s a conversation with your coach. I have multiple conversations with Doc — on the plane, on the bus, after games, during games. Just conversations. We need to do this. We need to do that. It’s not something more than a conversation, you know? It’s not more.
“I don’t know if people want to make it more. It’s not more. It’s that — you’ve just gotta lead. And it’s the truth. Sometimes the coach has got to come out and tell you, “Hey, you guys are not leading right now. You’re overthinking everything. You guys are not making it easy for yourself. You guys, you’re not blah, blah, blah.”
“At the end of the day, we are the players. We take responsibility, and we have to go out there and execute to the best of our ability. Take the direction from our coach and go try to execute it. That’s pretty much it. There is no, ‘He said that, (and) I said this.’
“Nobody cares, man. I promise you. Same time this year, same time next year, nobody’s going to remember that we had the conversation we had with coach Doc and what was out there. All I see is that we have to be better for our team, have to stay healthy and we have to go out there and win games. That’s all it is. That’s all it is. There’s no extra. There’s (nothing) more to it. We’ve just got to be better.”
As one can see, the meeting was not a big dramatic air-it-all-out session between stars and their coach. It was merely a conversation on how everyone on the team can better.
Based on what happened in Phoenix last night, though, they may need further discussions.
