Milwaukee Bucks fans aren’t so hot on some new players’ jersey changes for next season. First Kyle Kuzma took Damian Lillard’s old No. 0, which, fine, was also Kuzma’s as a Laker, but it’s too soon. Too soon.
Now free agent addition Gary Harris has selected No. 11 after sporting No. 14 for years with the Magic and Nuggets. Those two digits, of course, use to belong to franchise legend Brook Lopez, before he left in free agency this offseason. To put it lightly: fans aren’t happy.

Milwaukee Bucks might do better to “read the room” before making open-ended jersey offers
Some team supporters weren’t happy with the Harris signing already. Following a ghost season in Orlando in which he averaged three points per game, he should be primarily a depth piece on the end of the bench. While his veteran presence, shooting, and defense could be helpful, giving Harris minutes also means fewer for Bucks youngsters or role players like AJ Green. Many would rather see Green average 30 minutes per night than have him sacrifice time to Harris, if only to spread out the rotation and balance regulars’ workload.
Replacing the jersey number of someone like Lopez only makes Harris more unpopular. As much as the fanbase called for Splash Mountain’s dismissal last season, that sentiment is more about his roster fit now than his legacy with the organization. Lopez was a fixture, a leader, and part of the team’s “heart and soul” during his title-birthing seven-year tenure. Someday his jersey will hang in the rafters.

Similar to the Kuzma swap, the Harris choice comes a bit abruptly. While the team has declared itself ready in practice, in spirit, fans aren’t quite ready to move past that boundary. When it comes to Brook’s jersey number, they don’t want to, ever.

“We HATE THIS!!!,” said someone by the name of Bogolijub Markovic Watcher.
“What are we doing man,” read another comment, followed by a broken heart emoji.
Other replied in kind.
“I’m sorry but Brook should’ve been the last player in that uniform to wear this number.”

“What? His likeness just went down insurmountably.. Change this Bucks. Fix it.”
“that’s crazy work ngl,” remarked a user named ThanasisAchilles.
Harris hasn’t built up Kuzma’s stock of negative opinion, but for Bucks fans to change their tune, he’ll have to measure up as a decent contributor this season. Unfortunately, he may not have much chance to do so in limited playing time.
