The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night in the NBA Cup Championship 97-81. With this championship win, each player on the roster will receive over $500,000. This game did not count toward the regular season record.
This season, the Milwaukee Bucks have a 14-11 record overall after starting the season 2-8. As for the Thunder, they have a 20-5 record in the NBA this year. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the MVP of the in-season tournament. The Bucks hope this cup win will help propel them to another NBA title this season.
Stephen A. Smith Of ESPN Thinks That the Milwaukee Bucks Can Win the 2024-2025 NBA Championship This Season
On Wednesday morning on First Take on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith talked about the Bucks and the Thunder game. Smith said something surprising about Milwaukee. He mentioned:
“They did what they did last night against the top defensive team in the NBA. … If you’re shooting the basketball like that, you got a chance to win it all.”
It could be very tough for the Bucks to win the NBA title. There are times when they are too dependent on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Milwaukee also has to go through teams like the New York Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks have not won an NBA title since the 2020-2021 season when they defeated the Phoenix Suns in six games after trailing 0-2 in the series.
Fans React
Realistically, they won’t beat the Celtics if they try to play this way in a 7 game series. Way to big of a burden for Dame & Giannis.

The Thunder are still too small. They need a starter level PF/C to complement Chet and Hartenstein.

@MollyQerim @ShannonSharpe @KendrickPerkins @MadDogUnleashed Giannis my guy, don’t give this dude a full head of steam. I agree if the “Others’ are consistent with their shooting, Dame & Giannis will take them home 🏆

There is a lot of time left in the NBA regular season to see where the Milwaukee Bucks can go. It will be hard for them to win it all this season. They deserve praise for winning the NBA in-season tournament but will see where they are seeded and who they will face in the NBA playoffs in 2025.
