It has been quite a ride of late for Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee has come a long way since its ugly start to the 2024-25 NBA regular season which led to serious doubts about the team’s short-term and long-term outlooks.
With their 128-107 win over the Detroit Pistons on the road Tuesday night, the Bucks managed to extend their undefeated streak to seven games — and book a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 NBA Cup.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers feels confident about his team’s chances to win it all. He also appears to have the fierce mindset needed to succeed in the tournament.
Via Tim Bontemps of ESPN:
“Yeah, it’s great,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said of his team advancing to the quarterfinals. “They put a tournament in front of us, and we want to win it. We said that early on, and we’re 4-0. But we still have a lot of work to do.”
Milwaukee Bucks add the Detroit Pistons to list of victims amid torrid run
Against the Pistons, the 1-2 punch of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard went down to work to lead Milwaukee to another victory. The two-time league Most Valuable Player amassed 28 points on a near-perfect 10-for-11 shooting from the field to go with eight assists and seven rebounds in just 28 minutes of action.
Lillard, on the other hand, lit up the Pistons with 27 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the floor and 5-for-17 from behind the arc. Milwaukee also got great support from the bench, as Gary Trent Jr. and AJ Green combined for 27 points and six 3-pointers.
The Bucks have a short turnaround from their win over Detroit, with the Atlanta Hawks visiting them this Wednesday.
