Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham remains undefeated in the NBA Cup after helping his current team win the prestigious trophy in Las Vegas last Tuesday. The 51-year-old coach boasts a 14-0 record in the competition alongside Taurean Prince.
After the awarding ceremony, Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers called Darvin Ham his “secret weapon” since he is an integral part of the coaching staff. Rivers also gave Taurean Prince his flowers in the postgame press conference.
“By the way, we brought our secret weapon. Darvin Ham is now an undefeated coach in two years in this cup,” Rivers said to the media via ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.
“When I said that (about Ham), (Prince) was like, ‘what about me?’ and he’s an undefeated player, so that’s pretty cool for them. You know where that will help us is on the back end because it’s tough. You come right out of this and you have to get back to the grind,” he added.
Why the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t pop champagne after winning the NBA Cup
After hoisting the NBA Cup trophy in front of the fans in Las Vegas, the Milwaukee Bucks decided not to do a champagne celebration in the locker room. NBA insider Chris Haynes said it was Darvin Ham’s idea for the team to remain focused on the rest of the season after his experience with the Los Angeles Lakers last year.
“Bucks coach Doc Rivers told me after talking with Darvin Ham and his experience with Lakers last season, they chose not to celebrate the Cup championship with dousing and drinking of champagne. Want to focus on the remainder of the season,” Haynes wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
