It’s not just because of his blockbuster trade to the Milwaukee Bucks that Damian Lillard has been making all sorts of headlines of late. Unfortunately, the seven-time All-Star’s personal life has also been placed under a spotlight after reports emerged that Dame had filed for divorce from his soon-to-be ex-wife Kay’La Lillard.
Damian Lillard Files for Divorce Days After Milwaukee Bucks Trade
While the timing might be totally coincidental, it is still a point of interest that Lillard decided to file for divorce just days after his move to Milwaukee was confirmed. According to rumors, the couple had been separated for months, and it probably just so happened that Dame finally made his decision to make it official now that he’s moving to another city.
Throughout the ordeal, the 33-year-old has remained mum, and neither he nor Kay’La have disclosed the reason behind their split. The court record reportedly states that the couple have “irreconcilable differences,” but other than that, we all have no clue as to why they actually called it off.
Did Damian Lillard Throw Shade at Estranged Wife?
On Tuesday, Lillard decided to share a hilarious clip on his IG Stories about “dating an older man.” Obviously, there was no direct mention of Kay’La or his divorce proceedings, but it does make for a curious case (h/t Bhargav Nath of sportskeeda):
To put it into context, the skit was about a young woman not being familiar with his older partner’s taste in music. We all know that apart from basketball, Dame is also very passionate about music. He’s arguably the best rapper in the NBA today, and he just dropped his fifth studio album earlier this summer.
For all we know, this post could have nothing at all to do with his split with Kay’La. At this point, it would be foolish to make such a sweeping conclusion.
