Many believe that the Milwaukee Bucks will have a tough road to the NBA Finals after the kind of offseason they have.
While it’s undeniable that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are both outstanding players who can help the Bucks make the playoffs, many think that the supporting cast Jon Horst has provided Doc Rivers isn’t enough to bring the Bucks past the Boston Celtics and the rest of the big dogs of the Eastern Conference.
The Bucks will have quite a climb out of the Eastern Conference with the quality of rosters surrounding them. Aside from the Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks have built outstanding lineups that can overrun their opponents should everything work out in their favor.
However, one analyst believes the Milwaukee Bucks have what it takes to make a deep playoff run.
Analyst thinks the Milwaukee Bucks have built a championship-winning roster
Sports Illustrated’s Cody Smith states that the Bucks may not have made blockbuster moves compared to their rivals in the Eastern Conference.
However, he thinks the acquisitions they made in free agency is enough to push the team to a serious position in the Eastern Conference rankings:
Signing Gary Trent Jr. to a one-year, veteran minimum deal was one of the biggest heists of the summer. Trent Jr., a capable defender and one of the NBA’s best three-point shooters, will start alongside Lillard.
Tauren Prince and Delon Wright can play multiple positions if the Bucks choose to play big or small.
He also reminded everyone that Damian Lillard had to take on the Indiana Pacers alone as Giannis didn’t play due to injury. Moreover, Khris Middleton wasn’t playing at 100%. If all three players are available by the time the postseason starts, they will pose a serious threat to any squads they will face in the playoffs.
Of course, a lot hinges on luck and whether their acquisitions will work out for the Bucks. Fans will be hopeful that Doc Rivers can come up with an efficient game plan that maximizes the team’s strengths. They’ll also be praying that their stars won’t be sidelined with injuries.
