The Milwaukee Bucks recently completed a deal with the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks, which would see Khris Middleton and Kyle Kuzma switch places.
In the three-team deal, Milwaukee also received Jericho Sims, Patrick Baldwin Jr., and a 2025 second-round pick. Washington also added AJ Johnson and a 2028 first-round swap. New York got Delon Wright and cash considerations. The move gives the Milwaukee Bucks some financial flexibility since they’re below the second tax apron.
Middleton ranks second in Milwaukee Bucks history in games played (735) and minutes played (23,039), and third in assists (2,990). The 33-year-old swingman is a three-time NBA All-Star, one-time NBA champion, and one-time NBA Cup winner.
Given what he has meant for the city of Milwaukee, it’s safe to say that everyone will miss having him around.
Brook Lopez speaks up on the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to trade Khris Middleton
Brook Lopez was like all of us when he heard about the big trade between the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Washington Wizards. The 36-year-old center admitted he turned emotional upon hearing the news because of the bond he has built with Khris Middleton.
“I’ve known Khris for a long time. I’ve gotten to know him personally, so I had to fight from tearing up a little bit honestly. It was an emotional moment for me. Very surreal. And I’m just thankful for everything he’s done for us here, for me, and I’m thankful that I got to know him as the man he is,” Lopez said via The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.
“I got to know his whole family, his wife and kids. I’ll always love them. They’ll always be special to me. I’m obviously going to miss him. It’s going to be a huge adjustment, and I wish him nothing but the best,” he concluded.
