Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez may be the odd man out on the roster when the 2024-2025 season comes. He will become a free agent after next season. Lopez is 36 years old and the Bucks are looking to make improvements to the roster.
General manager Jon Horst will probably find a way to trade Lopez before the start of next season. He may not be the only player from last year’s roster to be traded this offseason. Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton, and Khris Middleton could be some of the other players from last year’s Milwaukee Bucks roster who also could be traded this summer.
Lopez has been mentioned in several mock trades already this offseason. It feels as if it is only a matter of time before he is dealt to another team.
Brian Sampson of Forbes.com Has Milwaukee Bucks Brook Lopez Being Traded to the Sacramento Kings
Forbes.com writer Brian Sampson created four different trade scenarios for the Bucks to trade Lopez. One of those scenarios has Brook Lopez and Chris Livingston being traded to the Sacramento Kings for Harrison Barnes and Davion Mitchell.
Sampson said about this trade:
“This trade would signal the Bucks going all-in on a small-ball strategy, marking a significant shift as Antetokounmpo transitions to playing center full-time. It’s a demanding role that could wear on him, but the potential payoff is substantial.
Harrison Barnes would be an ideal small-ball four, fitting perfectly between Antetokounmpo and Middleton. His ability to switch across multiple positions and contribute solid individual and team defense makes him a valuable addition.
Acquiring Davion Mitchell would also be a plus. The defensive-minded combo guard can play alongside Lillard or serve as his backup, adding depth to the Bucks’ backcourt. While Milwaukee might still seek a defense-first wing, Mitchell’s presence would certainly bolster their perimeter defense.”
Lopez in 79 games played last season for the Bucks averaged 12.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.6 APG, 2.4 BPG, and 0.5 SPG. As for Chris Livingston, he only played in 21 games last season and averaged 1.2 PPG, 1.0 RPG, 0.2 APG, and 0.1 SPG.
Livingston is only 20 years old. It would be interesting that Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst would throw him into this deal.
Davion Mitchell Would Get a Fresh Start With the Bucks
Mitchell would have a chance to start at shooting guard in this trade. Malik Beasley is not going to be brought back next season. Davion Mitchell is 25 years old and was the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
He played in 72 games last season with the Sacramento Kings. Mitchell only averaged 5.3 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.9 APG, and 0.2 SPG. Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter had better numbers at shooting guard than he did last season.
Harrison Barnes would also be a good addition for the Milwaukee Bucks. He played in all 82 games last season for Sacramento. Barnes averaged 12.2 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 0.7 SPG. Harrison Barnes is 32 years old and provides offense for this basketball team.
