Despite losing 111-105 to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, the Milwaukee Bucks still had something to celebrate, as Brook Lopez made history. The one-time NBA All-Star tallied his 1,969th career block, which puts him in the Top 20 on the NBA’s all-time list.
Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez’s teammate for the past six years, praised the center for his skillset and for “having his back for so many years.” Bobby Portis also offered some kind words for Lopez after the milestone.
“It’s great. The guy’s had my back for so many years getting blown by or me just trying to funnel guys to him to get some type of help,” Middleton said about Lopez via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But it shows his longevity for one, his skill set to be top 20 in blocks but also having the night he did from beyond the three-point line is crazy. So, congrats to him. I know he’s going to keep moving up that list.”
“He is a good, selfless guy who gives himself up for the betterment of the team. Obviously franchise leader in scoring with the Nets, so great player, man. Kinda cool to play with all these guys on my team that kind of break records all the time,” Portis added.
Brook Lopez’s stats during the Milwaukee Bucks-Brooklyn Nets game
Brook Lopez was one of the bright spots for the Milwaukee Bucks in their recent defeat against the Brooklyn Nets. The 36-year-old had 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks, and four three-pointers on 8-for-12 shooting from the field.
He averages 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks in 29 starts this season. Brook Lopez will continue to see an uptick in usage rate if Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard remain out against the Chicago Bulls tomorrow.
