Bobby Portis is pissed with how the Milwaukee Bucks lost 111-105 to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. Even if the team didn’t have Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, it was a game the Milwaukee Bucks were expected to win.
Milwaukee unraveled down the stretch, as six of their 23 turnovers came in the final six minutes of the contest. The final nail in the coffin came with less than one minute left, as Bobby Portis and AJ Green inexplicably double-teamed Ben Simmons at the three-point line, creating an open look for Cameron Johnson, who converted a four-point play after a costly foul on Ryan Rollins.
Khris Middleton led Milwaukee with 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, but he had a team-high seven turnovers. Brook Lopez added 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks, and four three-pointers on 8-for-12 shooting from the field.
Bobby Portis tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals on 7-for-16 shooting from the field. Gary Trent Jr. chipped in 14 points, three rebounds, and three steals off the bench.
Bobby Portis goes off on the latest Milwaukee Bucks defeat
Bobby Portis is unhappy because he knows the importance of winning these games, which could spell the difference between having a homecourt advantage in the playoffs or playing most games on the road. As things stand, Milwaukee has a 16-13 record, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference.
“Ain’t no excuses made,” Portis said via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Ain’t no saying, ‘Oh, we should’ve did this or that.’ No, we just lost the f***ing game. We gotta be better. Straight up. We gotta be better as a team. We can win. We could’ve won that game tonight.”
The Milwaukee Bucks will aim to bounce back when they take on the Chicago Bulls tomorrow. Doc Rivers and co. hope to have Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard fully recovered from their illnesses.
