Bobby Portis has already circled the two games where they’ll take on the Los Angeles Lakers in March. According to the Milwaukee Bucks forward, the team is determined to complete a season sweep over the Purple and Gold as a tribute to their assistant coach Darvin Ham.
“It’s going to be a fun game to play in,” Portis said via FanDuel’s Run It Back podcast. “We played them two times last year, obviously we’re in the East Coast and they’re a West Coast team. Our games last year actually went down to the wire. We actually lost both games by under three, three or four, five points.”
“For coach Ham, this is a big moment for him. I think our guys will be fired up for him to get the dub. On the other side, they’ll be fired up and not want their coach to beat them, so it’s just going to be a great game for TV. Hopefully that game is somewhere live nationally – I think it’s a great storyline behind it,” he added.
After he was fired by the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, Ham has found a home with the Milwaukee Bucks. When Ham recently won his second NBA Cup trophy, he expressed frustration about his dismissal from the Purple and Gold.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis took shots at the Los Angeles Lakers
Bobby Portis took a dig at the Los Angeles Lakers after helping the Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Cup. According to the 29-year-old forward, people these two teams couldn’t be any more different.
“We’re not Hollywood. We have hard-working guys (who are) selfless and who give themselves up for the betterment of the team,” Portis explained via The Athletic’s Sam Amick.
“It’s not about the points you score. It’s all about winning, being connected. Our group is different from their group. We’re just different in that regard of selfless guys that give themselves up. You can’t really compare the two teams — not at all,” he added.
