It’s honestly quite difficult to comprehend how the Milwaukee Bucks were so utterly dominated by an undermanned Cleveland Cavaliers side on Wednesday night. This is by no means a knock on the Cavs, but it’s totally out of character for the Bucks to get blown out by 40 points.
Sure, Giannis Antetokounmpo was out with an injury, but a Damian Lillard-led team still had to be better than this, right?
Bobby Portis Speaks Out on Milwaukee Bucks’ Blowout Loss to Cavs
For veteran big man Bobby Portis, he firmly believes it was nothing more than an off night for the Bucks. According to the 28-year-old, it was just a perfect storm for his team, which also included the Cavs making nearly 60% of their attempts from the field:
“I think sometimes in the league, man, you kind of have those dog days where it just ain’t your night,” Portis said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Maybe we could’ve put more effort or sprinting back on defense or whatever it was, but offensive end it just wasn’t our night shooting the ball. Defensive end, really couldn’t get a stop. They made every shot they threw up. I feel like every time they shot it, it was going to go in.
Portis did not hesitate to give the Cavs their flowers, though. He knows that whichever way you look at it, the Bucks were simply outplayed in all areas of the game.
“Tip your hat to a good Cleveland team,” Portis continued. “They’re a great defensive team, tip your hat to them. See them a couple times next week so it’s kind of cool to have a fast turnaround like that, see the same opponent next week, especially twice at the crib.”
You just know that Portis has already marked his calendar for their upcoming rematch against the Cavs. Revenge will definitely be on his mind.
