Milwaukee Bucks guard Andre Jackson Jr. was ejected with less than 10 seconds left in the first half during their 113-110 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday for hitting Nic Claxton.
Before this, Jackson slapped Claxton’s hands when the Brooklyn Nets center extended his arms to create space for D’Angelo Russell, who was bringing the ball up. And then when Russell used Claxton as a screen, Jackson swung his arm up on Claxton’s face.
Referee Mousa Dagher was right there where it happened, so it was an easy call. Jackson’s flagrant 1 foul was upgraded to a flagrant 2, so he had to leave the game.
Andre Jackson Jr. will be at least $2,000 poorer because of the ejection. He finished the game with two points and two rebounds in 14 minutes. Ryan Rollins started in his place from the third period onwards.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis offers sage advice to Andre Jackson Jr.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis knows what it’s like to be ejected in an NBA game, and he told Andre Jackson Jr. after the loss that it is never worth it.
“I just told him, like, you know, check your emotions. Sometimes in the heat of the game, you might’ve felt like you that you did something the right way, but you can’t hurt the team,” Portis said about Jackson via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“I told him I’ve been there before. I’ve been ejected plenty of times, so I know what comes with it. And you don’t want to hurt the team. I told him don’t do it again, bro, just keep your head up, let it hurt ‘til midnight and move on to Saturday. Just move on, man, just let that be your first one and your last one,” he added.
