According to reports, Terry Stotts’ sudden resignation as the Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach happened after an incident with head coach Adrian Griffin during practice. While it remains unconfirmed, there are rumors out there that this high-profile argument may have been what led to Stotts’ totally unexpected decision to leave the team just months after signing with the Bucks.
Rumored Tension Between Milwaukee Bucks Coaches
According to a report by Shams Charania and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, the incident went down during Tuesday’s shootaround in Oklahoma City. Apparently, Griffin called his coaches to a huddle after practice. Stotts reportedly decided to speak with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard instead of joining the huddle. This did not sit well with Griffin, who reportedly ended up shouting at Stotts right in front of the entire team.
It is also worth noting that it was Stotts who first joined the team earlier this summer. When he signed on, the Bucks were still in search of their next head coach after parting ways with Mike Budenholzer. Griffin was brought on around a month and a half after Stotts’ signing.
Griffin and Stotts reportedly did not have a relationship prior to linking up in Milwaukee.
