The Milwaukee Bucks’ 2025 NBA draft experience was not much to write home about, as they only came away with a pick. The Bucks, who didn’t have a pick in the first round, drafted Serbian forward Bogoljub Marković in the second round (47th overall).
Still, Milwaukee made an intriguing move on an NBA draft prospect following the two-day event, as the Bucks signed former Alabama Crimson Tide star point guard Mark Sears to a two-way contract. Sears went unselected in the draft, but he impressed the Bucks enough to score an NBA deal from the Eastern Conference club.
Although it’s not a regular contract, Sears’ two-way deal will still allow him to see action in the NBA. He’s likely going to be spending most of his time in the 2025-26 season.

Milwaukee Bucks react to Alabama’s message for rookie

Following the news of the Bucks signing Sears to the aforementioned contract, Alabama basketball shared a congratulatory post for the guard.
“MS1 is headed to Milwaukee!” the post read.
Many responded to it, including the Bucks, who wrote “Signed. Sears. Delivered. 🔥”

Sears has a chance to develop into a weapon for the Bucks. He was sensational during his three seasons in Tuscaloosa. In his final campaign with the Crimson Tide, Sears averaged 18.6 points and 5.1 assists per game. He was inefficient with his shot in the 2024-25 season, as he posted only a 49.4 effective field goal percentage, but that’s something he can work on and polish further with the Bucks.
With Milwaukee parting ways with Damian Lillard, there isn’t a legitimate alpha in the team’s backcourt, which could lead to Sears becoming a regular on the team’s main roster.
