The Milwaukee Brewers have lost another coach this off-season. Earlier, it was announced that former first base coach Quintin Berry was leaving the organization and joining the Chicago Cubs. Now their run prevention coordinator, Walker McKinven, has departed for a promotion with the Chicago White Sox.

For nearly a decade Walker McKinven has been in the Brewers organization. He has had many roles with the franchise, but most recently he was their run prevention coordinator. Other areas he has thrived in are catching development, game planning for pitchers, and pitch sequencing.
The Brewers have been a highly regarded defensive team for quite some time now and Walker McKinven has played a big role in the team’s success. He also has gotten massive defensive improvements from various catchers that includes Omar Narvaez and William Contreras.

The White Sox are hiring Walker McKinven to serve as a bench coach under new manager Will Venable. This is a massive promotion for the 35 year old. McKinven is also a Chicago native.
