In recent memory, the Milwaukee Brewers have had a few position players convert to pitchers later in their careers. Lucas Erceg, formerly an infielder, is the best example of this in which he ended up closing out games in the post season last year for the Kansas City Royals.
Another example is former outfielder Brett Phillips. He spent the 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees, but became a free agent at seasons end and currently remains unsigned.
Recently, another former Brewers position player was in the news for attempting a comeback as a pitcher.
Another former Milwaukee Brewers position player has converted to a pitcher

According to Jon Heyman, Tyler Naquin is back with the Cleveland Guardians on a minor league deal. The catch is that the former eight year big league veteran won’t be taking any hacks at the plate and instead has reported as a pitcher.
Tyler Naquin to the Guardians. As a pitcher.

When was Tyler Naquin with the Brewers?

In 2023, the Brewers signed Naquin to a minor league deal and invited him to big league camp. He ended up spending more than half the season in the minor leagues before being traded to the Chicago White Sox for cash. Naquin never made a MLB appearance with Milwaukee..
Naquin’s journey to further his baseball career as a pitcher will be interesting to watch. As evidenced by what happened with Phillips in New York, 2025 may be Naquin’s only shot at showing what his arm can do on the mound.
