The Milwaukee Brewers are expected to add some extra firepower to their starting rotation this offseason. The Brewers are predicted to place Devin Williams on the trade block, but they are keen on adding a pitcher who could also be a great fit for their bullpen.
There are plenty of pitchers available in the free-agent market. The Brew Crew seems to be turning their focus to an All-Star pitcher from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Blake Treinen is the new name that is swirling around the Brewers.
The Milwaukee Brewers have a bunch of young players with great pitching talent. However, they need someone as experienced and competent as Blake Treinen. If they manage to trade Williams, they will be able to pursue Treinen with ease. Williams is expected to give the team the desired amount to opt for a player like Treinen and more.
Treinen has the strong numbers to back him in this trade. The free agent held a 7-3 record with a stellar 1.93 ERA in 2024. The Dodgers put Treinen to good use, and he stepped up for the team when they needed him the most.
If the Brewers add Treinen, their bullpen will become a formidable force in 2025. The Brew Crew had the second-best bullpen ERA (3.11) in the MLB last season. Treinen could be a decent replacement for Williams.
Milwaukee Brewers Predicted To Target Other Free Agent Sluggers
The Milwaukee Brewers are also predicted to target other free agent sluggers. A numbers of free agents seem to be on the list as potential targets for the team. Free agent Josh Rojas is one of players that could fill in for the team. Rojas is not a strong offensive player but he could be a key piece for their defense.
Ty France is also a potential free-agent target. France has not been up to the mark, but the Milwaukee Brewers might be able to sign him without breaking the bank. Apart from France, they could also pursue Nicky Lopez.
Again, Lopez’s numbers have been in a steady decline just like Ty France. However, these free agents are not too expensive for the team. If they managed to trade Williams, they should be able to sign at least two of these players.
It’s a long shot for Willy Adames since they have not taken any concrete steps towards signing him. That said, they will have no other option but to turn their focus on smaller stars.
