To some outside of the Milwaukee Brewers organization, there is disbelief in how this squad has the best record in baseball, has multiple 10-game winning streaks this season, and recently scored free George Webb burgers for Wisconsin residents by notching their 12th straight win.
“Uecker Magic” is one phrase that has come to life during the team’s improbable winning streak, which has featured four consecutive sweeps. Another term being used is “The power of friendship;” and shortstop Joey Ortiz recently brought that back to life during an interview with MLB Network.
Milwaukee Brewers shortstop believes “the power of friendship” is the key to winning games

During an interview with MLB Network, Ortiz credited the team’s success first and foremost to their strong clubhouse chemistry. He emphasized how tight-knit the group is, saying the players take the field each night ready to play for one another. That bond fuels their confidence — no matter the opponent, they believe they’ll find a way to win.

For much of the season, Ortiz faced criticism for his struggles at the plate. While his defense at shortstop has consistently been Gold Glove caliber, his offensive production lagged behind, ranking among the lowest at his position. That narrative started to shift after the All-Star break, but especially so in August, where he has caught fire, hitting .391 and coming through in key moments. With 11 RBIs already this month, Ortiz is proving he can contribute on both sides of the ball.
To outsiders, the Brewers’ dominance this season may seem baffling, the best record in baseball, multiple double-digit win streaks, and even a 12-game run that earned free burgers for fans in Wisconsin. But inside the clubhouse, it all makes sense. Fueled by what’s being called “Uecker Magic” and “the power of friendship,” this team has found something special.
As Joey Ortiz reminded viewers during a recent MLB Network interview, the Brewers aren’t just winning games, they’re doing it for each other. And that bond may be their greatest weapon of all.
