There has been lots of news and updates regarding Milwaukee Brewers players this spring, but now we are less than one week away from opening day. Here we will include pieces of information picked up from around camp. Players included in this newser include Jake Bauers, Abner Uribe, Caleb Durbin, Brandon Woodruff, and more.
Final Milwaukee Brewers spring training notebook before 2025 season begins

- With Mark Canha gone and Tyler Black optioned to Triple-A, non-roster invitee Jake Bauers is seriously being considered to break camp on the team. Currently slowing down the teams decision making is the fact Bauers has an upward mobility clause in his contract, meaning any team has 24 hours to claim him if they plan on placing him on their 40-man roster. Milwaukee would get 72 hours to counter if he is claimed.
- Jose Quintana will throw in a minor league game on Thursday, March 27, when the big league team is in New York for opening day. His goal for that contest is five up-downs. If all goes well, he will need one more build up game after that, which puts him available for the Brewers to use on April 8.
- Milwaukee has identified two windows in April where they are thinking about having Abner Uribe serve his four game suspension. The first is immediately into the year and the second is at the end of April, when the Brewers play a three game weekend series against the Cardinals, have off Monday, and then take on the White Sox.

- Caleb Durbin, who was acquired in the Devin Williams trade and was a favorite to start the year at third base, will begin the year in the minor leagues. Team evaluators previously relayed that Durbin had failed to impress keeping track of Milwaukee’s various infield permutations.
- Rule-5 draft pick Connor Thomas has made the opening day roster.
- Non-roster invitee Manuel Margot was released.
- Brice Turang, who has been out with shoulder fatigue, had a clean MRI. He did throw on Saturday, March 22. There have been no indications that he won’t be ready for opening day.
- Tobias Myers is expected to be back on the mound for a bullpen session on March 25, and is targeting a return sometime in mid-April. He is out with an oblique injury.
- Nick Mears lost a lot of weight due to an illness. He expects to throw two simulated games in Arizona after the Brewers depart spring training, followed by 2-3 games with Triple-A Nashville.
- Brandon Woodruff recently threw two innings on the back fields, hitting 95 MPH again. He will throw a simulated game in Milwaukee once the regular season starts and then head back to Phoenix to continue building up.
- Freddy Peralta will start his second consecutive opening day. After him Nestor Cortes will face his former team. Aaron Civale will be the third starting pitcher of the year
