Earlier this month, the Milwaukee Brewers signed 30 year old Jon Duplantier to a minor league contract with an invite to big league camp. The former top 100 prospect had a few rocky MLB stints in 2019 and 2021, but he hadn’t found a way back to the big leagues since. That return will now be put on hold even longer as per Duplantier’s request he has been released.
Jon Duplantier has been granted a release from the Milwaukee Brewers organization
Brewers media members Adam McCalvy and Curt Hogg both reported that Jon Duplantier has been let go from the Brewers organization. Duplantier wanted to leave so that he could pursue an opportunity with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. Rather than Milwaukee stand in his way, they granted his request for a release.
How many non-roster invitees do the Milwaukee Brewers currently have?
Following Jon Duplantier’s release, the Brewers currently have 10 non-roster invitees to big league camp this spring. Pitchers include Deivi Garcia, Vinny Nittoli, and Thomas Pannone. Position players are David Garcia, Ramon Rodriguez, Raynel Delgqado, Ernesto Martinez Jr, Anthony Seigler, Jimmy Herron, and Jared Olivia.
