This off-season, the Milwaukee Brewers have not yet made any MLB signings, but they are up to three non-roster invitees to big league camp. From within the organization they invited first baseman Ernesto Martinez. Recently, they added two players who played elsewhere last year. Those players are 3B/2B Raynel “Ray” Delgado and LF Jimmy Herron.
Raynel Delgado is a 2025 non-roster invitee to the Milwaukee Brewers big league camp
Since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, Raynel Delgado had spent his entire career with the Cleveland Guardians. The left-handed hitting and right-handed throwing infielder spent the 2024 season at the Triple-A level. Across 93 games he slashed .275/.375/.426 with nine home runs, 44 RBI’s, and 22 stolen bases.
Jimmy Herron is a 2025 non-roster invitee to the Milwaukee Brewers big league camp
Originally a third round selection in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs, Jimmy Herron ended up joining the Colorado Rockies in 2021. Last year he spent the entire season with their Triple-A team. Across 95 games he slashed .280/.357/.453 with 14 home runs, 68 RBI’s, 16 stolen bases, and an astonishing low 14% strikeout rate. Throughout his Minor League career he has hit for a high average (career .270 batting average), made good contact, and displayed good home run power (13-19 home runs each of the last three seasons).
Why are the Milwaukee Brewers making these Minor League signings?
Earlier in November the Brewers saw 17 of their former Minor League players elect free agency. The additions of Raynel Delgado and Jimmy Herron don’t grab a lot of headlines, but improving the depth at their Triple-A level is important. Expect more signings like this to occur throughout the course of the off-season.
