Milwaukee Brewers coach Craig Counsell is leaving for the Chicago Cubs, shocking fans and players alike.
Craig Counsell rejected a $5.5 million offer from the Brewers to become the Cubs’ manager for $8 million annually over five years. Either deal would have made him the highest-paid manager in the MLB.
The Brewers offered Craig Counsell in the neighborhood of $5.5 million per season, which would have easily made him the highest-paid manager in MLB.
Everyone expected the Mets to throw $7 million per season (or more) at Counsell.
No one expected the Cubs to do so.

Three players, Corbin Burnes, William Contreras, and Brandon Woodruff, have expressed their views on the situation, which is a massive blow. Players truly loved Counsell, and this feels like a big stab in the back for them.
