Milwaukee Brewers won against the Chicago Cubs in their latest spring training assignment and among the keys to the victory was infielder Vinny Capra who had one home run and three run batted in during the game.

It’s the kind if game that Capra, who joined the team in 2023 off the waivers, needed most on a personal level as he is still vying for a spot with the Brewers.
That game might put him above other prospects as even manager Pat Murphy is taking notice.
“Swinging the bat great,” Murphy said after the game.
“He’s really put himself in the picture. That’s all. That’s what happens when you have a great spring, you put yourself in the picture. And he did.”
The camp will break in two weeks and there are two bench spots remaining in the Brewers line-up.

Capra’s strong showing might just give him one of those spots. If not, Milwaukee will need to assign him to the minors or better yet, trade him for another player.
Kay-Lan Nicasia and Cooper Pratt are the other prospects vying for the spot although they did not perform spectacularly in the game.
Vinny Capra a revelation for Milwaukee Brewers
This is not the first time that Capra put the media and the Brewers organization on notice.
He stunned fans last February when he recorded a pair of three-run home runs against the Cincinnati Reds in the Cactus League. He also had a walk-off winner and two outs in the ninth-inning.
Murphy thought he was great in the game.

“You can call it spring training or whatever, but plays like that in a baseball game regardless, when they’re all competing, it’s a great performance,” the manager said.
“(I’m) really happy for him.”
As for Capra himself, he is glad that his effort is paying off and it would mean a lot for him to make the roster.
“I like being here. I enjoy the staff, I enjoy everybody and I think we’re a good fit.”
