Milwaukee Brewers remain as the only team in MLB this season to have won 81 games despite their losses in the past weeks, including three straight against division rivals Chicago Cubs. They also lost two times in their most recent series which was against Willy Adames and the San Francisco Giants.

None of those matter though for MLB contributing writers as they thought they could keep the no. 1 spot. This is the fourth consecutive week that Pat Murphy’s squad hold the top spot.
There actually has been a little bit of tumult in Brewers land of late. They’ve lost six of their last nine (immediately following that 14-game win streak), the most recent two of which were because of the bullpen springing leaks.
They gave up seven runs in the sixth and the seventh on Saturday and then blew a lead in the ninth on Sunday, helping douse those good Ueck vibes. (Though just a little.) The lead over the Cubs? Down to five games.
The team also suffered their most lopsided loss in a long while when they went 1-7 in second game against the Giants on Saturday.

Second in the current power rankings are the Detroit Tigers which jumped five places. Los Angeles Dodgers, the former no. 2, find themselves in seventh spot.
Milwaukee Brewers’ Bob Uecker night got spoiled
Sunday night was dedicated by the team to the late Bob Uecker who passed away this January. All players wore ‘Ueck’ in their jerseys.
Things went well for the team at the start, as if the Uecker magic was present again in the American Family Field. They trailed by two runs in the second inning but managed to get close by the third inning. They then stole the lead by fifth.
Problem is they collapsed in the ninth inning, surrendering two more to Matt Chapman who hit a leadoff double against Trevor Megill.

Murphy rues the fact that they lost on a night dedicated to the Milwaukee legend.
Pat Murphy: “God, I wish we could have got that for Ueck. Such a great turnout to honor such an incredible man, and then just a great event. I didn’t think there’s any way that the baseball gods would bestow this on us. But look at the Giants, they’re built to win.”
