Injury bug continues to plague the Milwaukee Brewers as the opening day of the 2025 MLB season approaches. The latest to fall is second baseman Brice Turang who was scratched off from the team’s Saturday game against the Cleveland Guardians.

Team announcement said he was removed from the line-up due to shoulder fatigue. This was allegedly due to increased rigor of throwing by the baseman.
MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy said the removal of Turang in the line-up is just precaution.
“Brice Turang remains absent as a precaution, according to Pat Murphy. ‘When you have that flare-up — the throw from shortstop is different than throwing from second on a lot of the plays. … He’s had this before. It’s kind of snuck up on him. It’s nothing to be concerned of,'” McCalvy shared.

Murphy himself also allayed fears about Turang’s possible absence and that there is little possibility he will be put on the injured list.
He said doctors are “optimistic that (Turang) can play within three, four, five days.”
Impact of Brice Turang’s injury on SS position
Turang took home last season’s Gold Glove Award at second base and he is projected to become the club’s starting shortstop following the departure of Willy Adames.
His injury now means the starting position might go to Joey Ortiz who is usually playing at third base.

Murphy called his injury unfortunate with regards to their positioning plans for the new season.
“It’s unfortunate because we just went from, ‘He’s going to play second,’ to, ‘We’re going to switch it up, maybe, to play short,’” manager Pat Murphy said.
