Milwaukee Brewers top pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski recently had his first appearance out of the bullpen. The results were incredible as he covered multiple innings and delivered a bunch of strikes. Here we cover his performance in more detail as well as why he is making appearances as a reliever.
Jacob Misiorowski thrived during his first appearance out of the bullpen.
Since being drafted in 2022 Jacob Misiorowski has made 44 appearances in the minor leagues. Until Sunday, August 11 all of his outings had come as a starting pitcher. The results of his first career appearance as a reliever were incredible as he threw 1.2 innings, didn’t allow a hit or walk, struck out two batters, and 13 out of his 15 pitches thrown were strikes.

Why are the Milwaukee Brewers having Jacob Misiorowski come out of the bullpen?
Upon being promoted to Triple-A in early August the Brewers announced that they will be limiting the innings that Jacob Misiorowski is throwing. In 2023 his season was cut short due to shoulder fatigue (71.1 IP) and he had just surpassed that innings prior to being promoted. His long term health is one reason why Milwaukee has elected to limit his innings and have him come out of the bullpen but the others are because he has already proven so much as a starter and they are prepping him for the possibility of a late season MLB call up.
What role would Jacob Misiorowski have if he is promoted to the big leagues in 2024?
If Jacob Misiorowski gets called up to the big leagues in 2024 he may have a similar role that Corbin Burnes had in 2018. At that time Burnes was their top pitching prospect but he operated as a reliever with the Brewers and had the ability to cover multiple innings. Misiorowski could be on the same path, but long term he is still viewed as a top end starting pitcher.
