What a difference a year can make, especially for Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio. Last year was his first time in Spring Training as a player expected to make the Major League roster. Earlier that offseason, he had signed a massive eight-year $82 million contract with the Brewers (with two club options that can make it a 10-year deal worth well over $100 million). And he had not even played a Major League game yet.
To say that he felt the pressure would be an understatement. And it showed early in the year as he struggled at the plate. Many, included Chourio himself, wondered if Milwaukee had made a mistake by signing him so early.
But teammate Freddy Peralta had a reminder for the young outfielder: they signed him for a reason. They believed in him.
It was a wakeup call, and the then-20-year-old star in the making never looked back.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Jackson Chourio Made MLB History in 2024

In March/April of 2024, Chourio hit just .206/.257/.351 with four home runs and 13 RBI. May was also an ugly month, which saw him hit .215/.250/.292 with just a single home run and three RBI.
But then June hit, and it seemed as if Chourio had rediscovered the swing that makes him so special. That month, he hit .315/.363/.534 with four home runs and 16 RBI. He continued his hot streak throughout the rest of the season, hitting .310/.363/.552 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI after the MLB All-Star Break.
By the time the season was over, he had become the youngest player in MLB history to post a 20-20 season. In 148 games played, he hit .275/.327/.464 with 21 home runs, 79 RBI, and 22 stolen bases.
In Milwaukee’s Wild Card Series loss to the New York Mets, Chourio blasted two home runs, cementing his stature as a big-time player for the franchise going forward.
Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Jackson Chourio Says His Confidence Is at an All-Time High

Brewers insider Adam McCalvy recently asked Chourio to rate his confidence level on a scale of 1-10. Per McCalvy, Chourio smiled and said, “Twenty. A lot.”
When he asked the young star what his confidence level was last year at this time, Chourio honestly stated, “Four.”
There is good reason for Milwaukee’s young outfielder to be confident going into his second season in the Majors. In 16 Spring Training games, he has hit .468/.510/.702 with a home run, eight RBI, and six stolen bases.
While he likely will not come close to hitting at that high of a level once the regular season begins, he proved in the second half of last year that he has everything it takes to be one of the best hitters in baseball.
And confidence can go a long way in this league when one has the talent that Chourio possesses.
