Milwaukee Brewers sophomore standout Jackson Chourio is in the midst of a career-best 20-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old sparked the run on July 2 during the second game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets, with the only game this month in which he’s gone hitless was the first game of that twin bill.
During Chourio’s hit streak, he has 31 total hits with 11 going for extra bases. His OPS is hovering around 1.000, despite drawing just four free passes.
Chourio’s hot stretch at the plate has not only fueled the Brewers’ offense, but also placed him in rare territory for players his age. As his hit streak grows, the young outfielder is beginning to join some elite names in baseball history, players who achieved similar feats early in their careers and went on to become stars.
Jackson Chourio in elite company with a 20-game hit streak

Per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Chourio is just the 13th player since 1901 who is 21 years or younger and has a 20+ game hit streak. Freddie Freeman was the last player to do it and Alex Rodriguez before Freeman. Others on the list include Willie McCovey, Kent Hrbeck, Richie Ashburn, Jimmie Foxx and Ty Cobb.
20-game hit streaks in Milwaukee Brewers franchise history

Thanks to the research of Brewers media relations director Mike Vassallo, only six other 20-game hitting streaks have been recorded in franchise history. With Chourio now becoming the seventh to reach that mark, here’s a look at the exclusive company he joins, along with the length and years those streaks occurred.
- Corey Hart – 20 games – 2010
- Corey Hart – 22 games – 2007
- Cecil Cooper – 22 games – 1980
- Ryan Braun – 23 games – 2011
- Davey May – 24 games – 1973
- Paul Molitor – 39 games – 1987
At just 21 years old, Chourio’s 20-game hitting streak not only highlights his talent at the plate but already cements his place among some of the best hitters in Brewers history
