The Milwaukee Brewers, once again, are the hottest team in Major League Baseball. With their 7-6 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday, one that saw them trailing 5-0 at one point, Milwaukee has won nine games in a row and sport a 73-44 record, the best in the Majors. They also currently have a six game lead over the Chicago Cubs for first place in the National League Central Division.
During this hot streak, the Brewers have seen several of their hitters come up in big moments. But perhaps the most consistent and hottest of them all is 28-year-old rookie left fielder Isaac Collins. It was his solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday that completed Milwaukee’s epic comeback in front of a crowd of 33,000+ who braved flood conditions to watch the Brewers continue their magical run.
And, on Monday, Collins received some well-deserved recognition.
Milwaukee Brewers Rookie Isaac Collins Took Home the NL Player of the Week Award

Every Monday, Major League Baseball hands out Player of the Week Awards for both the American and National League. Typically, these awards go to veteran players who are having a hot week. But today, it was Collins, a 28-year-old rookie who has taken the city of Milwaukee by storm, who was given the honor in the National League:

As one can see in the post above, Collins hit .476 last week with five extra base hits and eight runs driven in. Of course, two of these extra base hits came on Sunday when he had a double and the aforementioned walk-off home run.
On the season, Collins is hitting .295/.395/.448 with eight home runs, 40 RBI, and 13 stolen bases.
What is more, the late-bloomer has put himself in the thick of the National League Rookie of the Year debate. Should he win it this year, he would join Pat Listach, Ryan Braun, and Devin Williams as the only Brewers players to ever take home that particular award.
Collins is also the reigning National League Rookie of the Month for July, a month that saw him hit .321/.411/.436 with two home runs and 11 RBI.
So far in August, he is hitting .452/.541/.806 with two home runs and 10 RBI.
