The Milwaukee Brewers just cannot escape pitcher injuries. After getting the call-up to replace Jacob Misiorowski, fellow rookie starter Logan Henderson is hitting the injured list himelf with right elbow inflammation. In addition to those recent developments, Jose Quintana missed three weeks in May on top of being unavailable to start the season after getting a late start in spring training.
Brandon Woodruff suffered multiple setbacks before finally returning to the mound, for the first time in nearly two years, back in early July. Free agency addition Nestor Cortes made two starts, then was hurt the whole year until being traded to San Diego. Aaron Civale was on and off the mound before being flipped to the White Sox (in a move that served the Brewers impossibly well).
Long story short, it’s been a carnival ride all season, yet the rotation continues to rise above every obstacle. It certainly helps having a pitching reservoir as deep as Milwaukee’s. Filling in for Henderson filling in for Miz will be second-year starter Tobias Myers, called up once again from Nashville.

Milwaukee Brewers to give Myers another stab at starting
It has been an up-and-down year for the 27-year-old Florida native. Sent down early this season, Myers returned in July but worked out of the bullpen. He made two scoreless appearances before being demoted again to clear roster space.
Overall, he has appeared in eight games this season (five starts), recording a 4.30 ERA in 23 innings. After showing good control and limiting hard contact as a rookie, he has allowed 10 walks and 27 hits in a small sample of work. Concerningly, he has not been all that effective in the minors, either, giving up more hits than innings pitched across 12 starts.

It’s been even worse for rookie Chad Patrick, however, who has struggled with his command while surrendering a 4.39 ERA in five outings for Nashville. Robert Gasser, who shined briefly in 2024 before getting hurt, is looking at a rehab assignment. He began the year on the 60-day injured list.
With Henderson hurt, Patrick struggling, and Gasser still getting up to speed, Myers was the obvious choice among the options at Triple-A. This time around he should get a shot in the rotation, likely taking the mound for Henderson’s scheduled start on Saturday.

In some better news, the bullpen should have the benefit of trade pickup Shelby Miller, activated Friday afternoon. First pitch tonight against the Mets is scheduled for 7:10 PM CT.
