The Milwaukee Brewers have had the second-best bullpen in all of baseball in each of the last two seasons. Indeed, their pitching depth has been, arguably, their biggest strength for years. But in the early days of 2025, that strength will be tested.
Milwaukee’s starting rotation has dealt with several injury blows this spring. DL Hall is currently on the 60-day injured list and Aaron Ashby suffered an oblique strain. Tobias Myers, too, is dealing with an oblique injury and will not be ready for Opening Day.
Brandon Woodruff, of course, will not be ready for the start of the season as he works his way back from shoulder surgery, but will play a factor in the starting rotation soon.
All this to say that, early on, the Brewers may be using the bullpen often and for long stretches during games.
Former Milwaukee Brewers Reliever Hunter Strickland Was Released by the Texas Rangers

Unfortunately, the Brewers bullpen also has not gotten out of Spring Training unscathed. Nick Mears got sick, really sick, and lost nine pounds. He will not be ready for Opening Day. Abner Uribe still needs to serve a four-game suspension for a fight he was involved in last year.
It is noteworthy, then, that one particular pitcher that Milwaukee is very familiar with has suddenly become available. Hunter Strickland, who had a 1.73 ERA in 35 games with the Brewers in 2021 was just released by the Texas Rangers.
Last season, Strickland played with the Los Angeles Angels, appearing in 72 games while posing a 3.31 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. He was 3-2 and recorded a save.
However, Strickland went unsigned until last week when Texas picked him up. In two games, he allowed three runs while only getting four outs.
Since that is the case, he will certainly not be an immediate fix for Milwaukee should they look into acquiring him again, but he could be an option down the line if their pitchers continue to deal with injuries.
